As a longtime fan of The Hot Zone, I wanted to love this book; in fact, I tried to love this book. Alas, that was not to be.While the information it contains was as fascinating as I had hoped and expected, the book could have benefited from more skillful editing. The writing was so disjointed that it not only detracts from the story, it was distracting in general. At times, the writing was so disjointed that it even became annoying to read.So sadly, while I've read The Hot Zone numerous times and added it to my home library in a print edition, I won't be reading The Demon In The Freezer again, and I doubt you'll read it more than once either. For that reason if you still want to read it (and admittedly, there are far worse books out there) I suggest you save the trees, and get the Kindle edition. Who is stupid enough to read this during the pandemic? Me. What was I thinking?!? I started laughing hysterically to cope with the stress. Didn't sleep a wink.Demon in the Freezer is a bit sensationalized like other RP "dark bio" books, but it's still a fun read. Also, it helps to educate us common folk about the spread of virulent infectious diseases. COVID-19 is scaring us now, but it's a little comforting to know that things could be a lot worse.So, yes this book is terrifying but I still recommend. The more you know! Good luck everyone.
